High School Shooting

The Illinois Attack Invites High School Athletes to Sunday Night Shooting

Our High School Shooting Class is designed to build a comfortable shooting motion that leads to consistent results. This training emphasizes the key elements that make a player’s shots become more efficient and effective. With a focus on footwork, ball placement, and proper shooting form, athletes will develop the skills needed to become consistent within their shooting on all areas of the court.

Training will cover the fundamentals: shooting on the catch, starting with proper footwork, establishing a consistent shooting pocket, and ball placement. We’ll also focus on the mechanics of lifting and releasing the ball, ensuring the shot is clean, quick, and accurate timing. Lastly, using your vision to read and react to defenders to create open shooting opportunities.

Training Focus Areas:

  • Footwork: Developing a balanced, explosive base for quick, accurate shots off the catch.

  • Shooting on the Catch: Efficiently transitioning from receiving the ball to a smooth, quick release.

  • Ball Placement/Shooting Pocket: Ensuring the ball is held in the ideal spot for consistency and power.

  • Form for Lifting and Releasing: Focusing on proper hand placement, lift, and follow-through for accuracy. Enhancing the ability to quickly read the defense and maintain focus on the target.
