GAME GOALS

Jump Start builds on the fundamentals by introducing more advanced youth basketball training techniques in a fun, supportive environment. Our goal is to help young players understand the flow of the game and improve their decision-making on the court. Throughout the season, kids will learn:

  • Where to go on the court during offense and defense

  • What side of the court to be on when playing defense

  • That they don’t always need to run straight to the ball

  • How to cut to the basket after making a pass

  • What defines a good shot

  • The importance of learning from mistakes, like traveling violations, in a way that builds confidence. Coaches will explain what went wrong and offer a do-over to reinforce learning.

By the end of the program, players will have a strong grasp of basic basketball rules and penalties. They'll also develop positive habits like good sportsmanship and maintaining a team-first attitude which are key parts of any youth basketball program.
